Since 2012, post-Thanksgiving “Black Friday” has been “Track Friday” in NJ, when families and groups walk or run to raise money for the charity of their choice. We began participating in 2015 at the Highland Park High School Track. Started after Hurricane Sandy, Track Friday is a challenge to the commercial effect of “Black Friday” (the day after Thanksgiving), filled with frantic sales and shopping.
Our team is co-chaired by AECDC Board members Laura Gordon and Dana Schrager, and each year our contingent has grown – as has the money raised and diapers donated for the Central Jersey Diaper Bank.
In the first year (2015) our groups walked with Highland Park Road Runners Club, which supports the Highland Park Education Fund. In our first effort we raised over $1,200. In the second year we raised about $1,300 for the Central Jersey Diaper Bank. Starting in 2017 we merged with AttachAvi for Autism and raised over $3000...
Even if you cannot be at the walk, you can help find sponsors, and raise awareness and funds through your social media and personal contacts.
We will post more details shortly!
